The concept here is simple: I’m simply using my weekly ranks – proven to be among the top-20 in weekly accuracy per FantasyPros – and am using their cost per point calculations based off of those to provide you with the best Week 2 DFS Plays. They won’t always be the top-3 in CPP value, but, promise to provide value at their relative cost. By default, our cost/point calculations are developed using Draft Kings‘ pricing strategy, but, you can toggle between DK and Fanduel using the overall table below the picks.
Week 1 DFS Plays: Quarterback
Drew Brees – Draft Kings Salary: $7,800 – My Rank: QB1 – Cost/Point: $324

Drew Brees makes his Super Dome debut this week and represents a solid buy (Photo: Chris Graythen/Getty Images North America).
While every game won’t be quite so bad for Wintson and the Bucs offense, its reasonable to assume that they’re going to have some trouble sustaining drives again this week on the road against New Orleans. That should lead to plenty of opportunities for Brees, in his first home game of the season. His success there vs. on the road is well documented, and after watching Marcus Mariota carve up the Bucs D in Week 1 its shaping up for that trend to continue. Brees is a great bet for multiple scores and notched 355 yards through the air with his new look offense last week.
Matt Ryan – Draft Kings Salary: $7,400 – My Rank: QB2 – Cost/Point: $345
Julio Jones is limping a bit and this week’s matchup differs from last (a home matchup against Philadephia) but the Giants don’t have the pass rush to apply pressure to Ryan. We saw Tony Romo pick them apart last Sunday night without his best weapon on the field, and we know that Ryan should have his own top receiver out there after a two score debut from Jones. Count on them to keep it rolling in Week 2.
Nick Foles – Draft Kings Salary: $5,500 – My Rank: QB22 – Cost/Point: $341
Credit Foles, in his Rams debut, for keeping control of the football and putting up an efficient 18/27, 297 yard debut against Seattle’s secondary. The matchup is much friendlier against Washington. Foles won’t post top numbers this week, but he demonstrated his characteristic willingness to throw deep in Week 1 against the ‘Hawks and that approach could meet with great success against Washington. In fact, his 9.6 yard average depth per throw was the 6th highest number across the league last week and he managed to complete 75% of his ‘aimed throws’ according to Pro Football Focus. If you’re looking for consistent, floor level production at a cost efficient rate, Foles is your man this week.
Week 1 DFS Plays: Running Back
Ameer Abdullah – Draft Kings Salary: $4,500 – My Rank: RB6 – Cost/Point: $268
Abdullah entered Week 1 buried on the Lions’ depth chart but managed to make an impression all the same. Heading into Week 2, the staff are less forceful in terms of his low standing:
Lombardi on whether Ameer Abdullah has surpassed Joique Bell: “We’ll see.”
— Kyle Meinke (@kmeinke) September 17, 2015
The thing is, though, the distinction doesn’t matter. Abdullah featured heavily in the game plan a week ago and should do so again this week against Minnesota. That Minnesota defense was just gouged by Carlos Hyde in San Francisco, and Abdullah should be counted on to add a number of receptions to his rushing totals, a helpful fact in our PPR format.
Christopher Ivory – Draft Kings Salary: $4,700 – My Rank: RB7 – Cost/Point: $292
Ivory is questionable for Monday night, though, I’m expecting him to take the field. You may want to avoid him in settings without a late swap feature. Ivory was featured in this space a week ago, and he paid dividends for investors. Despite that, his price remains really palatable in daily formats, and the opportunity remains the same in Week 2. To be fair, Ivory saw a lot of work a week ago because the Jets were able to dispense with the Browns pretty easily. That won’t be the case this week against Indy, but, he’ll be taking what attempts he does get against a Colts defensive front that doesn’t offer a lot of resistence. While starter LeSean McCoy managed just 87 total yards, Bills backs scored twice against the Colts. The last time we saw them, LeGarrette Blount was running beach balls into the endzone. In short, Ivory has a great matchup in Week 2 and is coming off a solid outing. Expect the Jets to stick with the run as long as they can, including a number of opportunities for Ivory to make plays early.
Lance Dunbar – Draft Kings Salary: $3,000 – My Rank: RB60- Cost/Point: $613 The Cowboys leaned on Dunbar heavily in their second half comeback against New York last week, including eight receptions on eight targets. Heading into Week 2, it’s unlikely that he’ll be a featured part of their game plan but with limited receiving options and a role as the third down back in a game that could become a shootout against Philadelphia, Dunbar could offer a solid baseline point total at the minimum cost.
Week 1 DFS Plays: Wide Receiver
Terrance Williams – Draft Kings Salary: $4,200 – My Rank: WR23 – Cost/Point: $299
On the note of Dallas’ options in the passing game, Williams is suddenly the best one. He should become a high volume one as well, in Dallas’ generally low yield passing attack. With Dez Bryant on the field, Williams saw more than five targets in a game just five times last season. He scored four times in those games. He’s all but assured that volume this week (and in most weeks until Bryant returns) as the feature of the Cowboys receiver group. Meanwhile, Philadelphia’s top corner was abused for nine receptions on 10 targets (for 154 yards and a score) by Julio Jones. Williams isn’t on Jones’ level, but, we’ve seen his big play ability on display before and he should easily outperform his 47th ranked (on Draft Kings) cost.
Jarvis Landry – Draft Kings Salary: $5,900 – My Rank: WR11 – Cost/Point: $346
Miami’s offense struggled to get going last week, leaving Landry to do his damage on special teams. Still, even with the sluggish production he managed eight receptions for 53 yards, demonstrating the solid floor that owners should love when investing in their daily lineups. This week, the Fish do battle with a Jaguars team that struggled to move the ball against Carolina and could find themselves in trouble against Miami’s defensive front. Count on short fields for Tannehill and co. and Landry to post his standard 5+ catches with a chance to find the endzone as a receiver this week.
Harry Douglas – Draft Kings Salary: $3,000 – My Rank: WR50 – Cost/Point: $315
Given how Tennessee moves Kendall Wright around their offense, he’s unlikely to see Joe Haden the entire game, but he’s likely to see a lot of him this week. With that in mind, expect Marcus Mariota to look in Douglas’ direction often. Douglas scored in Week 1 while drawing just two targets as part of a game flow that didn’t call for a whole lot of pass attempts. Expect that number to ramp up considerably in Week 2 and Douglas to deliver a low-upside, high-floor outing for owners looking to save a few dollars at WR.
Donte Moncrief – Draft Kings Salary: $4,600 – My Rank: WR28 – Cost/Point: $344
With TY Hilton trending toward game day deactivation, Moncrief finds himself in position for a significant boost in targets on Monday night. In fact, I’m intrigued by him regardless. How well he’s able to take advantage of that depends upon how much of Darrelle Revis he sees, but that assignment could fall to Andre Johnson. If that is the case Johnson, who looked like a veteran lacking explosion in Week 1, could find himself irrelevant in the passing game leaving Moncrief (11 targets, 6-46-TD against Buffalo) with plenty of opportunity to make an impact this week.
Week 1 DFS Plays: Tight End
Tyler Eifert – Draft Kings Salary: $4,200 – My Rank: TE3 – Cost/Point: $298
Eifert’s appearance in this article isn’t an overreaction to his first week explosion, but to his low price tag after spending 2014 on the shelf. Of course, his enormous Week 1 (where he was the most targeted Bengal) doesn’t hurt. Count on Eifert, who looked every bit the athlete with none of the rust last week, to perform well against a Chargers D that let Eric Ebron eat in seam last week. Mo Sanu and Marvin Jones were after thoughts in the pass game, suggesting that Eifert will be the second option moving forward.
Jason Witten – Draft Kings Salary: $4,300 – My Rank: TE5 – Cost/Point: $322
So, we’re heavy on Cowboys in the wake of Bryant’s injury but it is conceivable that all three could return value on their current cost. Consider this: Witten was targeted four times for three receptions and 13 yards in the first half last week. With Bryant out for much of the second, he wound up with five more targets, catching all of them for 47 yards and scoring twice .Count on him to be leaned on heavily this week, and act as a feature in the redzone.
Week 1 DFS Plays: Defense
Houston Texans – Draft Kings Salary: $2,900 – My Rank: DST3- Cost/Point: $200
Houston’s defense was surprisingly on its heels for much of Week 1, but with play maker JJ Watt on the field they’ll always have a chance to score. This week, they’ll draw an under-manned Panthers team that struggled to get it going in Week 1 against Jacksonville. Count on consistent pressure, and a productive effort from the unit even if Carolina wins a low scoring game.
Miami Dolphins – Draft Kings Salary: $3,300 – My Rank: DST1- Cost/Point: $224
I expected Miami to feast on Kirk Cousins last week, and with 15 fantasy points their outing played just fine… but… you still felt like the Dolphins left something on the field. With a date against Blake Bortles and the Jags, the opportunity is there for them to cause havoc again. Bortles took five sacks behind Jacksonville’s poor Offensive Line in the opener and you have a sense that Miami could match that number while causing problems elsewhere this week. They aren’t the cheapest unit on the board, but should still justify the price tag.
